I got the idea for this picture from a greyscale image that was displayed on the cover of Scientific American. I cut squares of wood about the size of Scrabble tiles and applied varying shades of wood stain to complete the effect. This piece was displayed at Hildene - Todd Lincoln's home in Manchester, Vermont for several years before I reclaimed it. Today, I don't know where the piece is. The last I remember it was at the home of a family friend, also named Todd in Philadelphia. All that remains of it now is this photo. |
